Suluk Essentials

An introductory letter by Hadrat Hafiz Zulfiqar Ahmad AnNaqshbandi (Damat Barakatuhu)

With His Glorious Name

Allah, Allah, Allah

Dear Respected Sister:

As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.

May Allahu I keep you in His protection. I received your letter and was very pleased. Know that whenever this faqir receives a letter, he immediately makes a supplication and sends a spiritual reply. Written replies are sometimes delayed because of an extremely busy schedule. You asked about the litanies (dhikr) of the Naqshibandi Mujaddidi tariqa, I have outlined some relevant details below. On The Fringe of Extinction: Supplication after Salat

All Hamd to Him who created man and created other innumerable beings for his needs, who throws open the door of his worldly treasures for all His creatures, Muslims and non-Muslims, thankful and ingrates, living and non-living. Unlike worldly kings and wealthy men, He not only throws open but also calls, imploring His servants to come for His favours saying, ‘who needs so that I give, who seeks pardon so that I forgive him.’ He made this asking, this supplication the sword of the Muslims and promised honours for those who humble themselves before Him praying and requesting and disgrace for the arrogant slaves who failed to recognize their being needy every moment thus refusing to ask by humbling themselves before the Lord of all things and the only one who is far from needing anything from anybody. Tasawwuf and the Sacred Sunnat

Bismillahi wa salatu wa salamu ala Rasulillah wa ‘ala jami’il ambiyai wal-mursalin wa ‘ala ahlihi wa sahabihi ajmain, amin.

All the three (3) basic sciences (branches) or components of Islam have suffered greatly in the hands and minds of modern Muslims who, due to their ignorance of the depth, the eminence, sublimity and sacredness of these sciences and the great sages who suffered to put them in place, are consulting mind and man’s limited intelligence to make a change in these sciences.

The first of these sciences, Kalam, the science discussing the details of traditional (Sunni) beliefs has witnessed various attacks by men trying to give Allah I the attributes of men and/or other creation. Men have started to perceive a Lord and Creator that can be approached with the question of how, when, where and why. This is a dangerous shift from the pure, pristine, perfect and perfecting Tawhid brought by the noblest of servants and of Prophets, the rahma on the entire creation, Rasulu-Karim Muhammad Mustafa (alaihi wa ahlihi wa sahabihi salawatu wa taslimat). Indeed, the most exalted Prophet r mentioned in his noble words that the deviants will continue in this wayward and eccentric digression of theirs until they would ask: ‘Who created Allah ?’ Subhanallah! The Prophet of mercy, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa (salalau alaihi wa salam) finally warned:

There will be towards the end of time a people (among my Ummah) who will say to you what you nor your fore-fathers (spiritual ancestors) have never heard before. Beware of them lest they misguide you and bring you to confusion. Continue reading “Tasawwuf and the Sacred Sunnat”

Ihsan: The Science of the Heart

Bismillahi wa salatu wa salamu ala Rasulillah wa ‘ala jami’il ambiyai wal-mursalin wa ‘ala ahlihi wa sahabihi ajmain, amin.

Ihsan is to worship Allah as if you see Him for although you do not see Him, He sees you.                              —- Hadith Jibrail

Taking the First Step

Man is a combination of the physical organs and the soul. The soul is used to describe all the spiritual entities in man. That is to say as the body is made up of limbs and organs , the soul is made up of spiritual parts called Lataif. Of these lataif, the qalb is the closest to Allahu ta’ala. This qalb rendered literally as Heart is not the physical pumping heart, rather the spiritual essence placed over the physical heart. The Holy Qur’an in describing the Day of Qiyama declares that only those who arrive the plane of judgement with a sound, healthy, purified and Allah loving qalb will attain to benefits, safety and salvation. Bedroom Fiqh

Bismillahi wa salatu wa salamu ala Rasulillah wa ‘ala jami’il ambiyai wal-mursalin wa ‘ala ahlihi wa sahabihi ajmain, amin.

All praise, adorations and gratitude’s belong to Him who created all beings in pairs as a proof of His oneness, who inclines the heart of the sexes to relationship as a means of sustaining creation and who makes marriage halal and prohibits zina. May all prayers of goodness be on our master and Sayyed of Prophets, Muhammad Mustafa , on his brother Prophets u and Angels u and on the exalted sages y who are the preservers of his sublime and unique tradition, amin.

My very dear and valuable brother, I pray that Allah I honour you with walking in the Nur of Muhammad u throughout your life and bless you with good destiny and good end as alms for the essence of Islamic scholarship and wilaya, al-Imam ar-Rabbani Shaykh Ahmad Faruqi t amin. You asked me to summarise the rule of relationship for a newly married couple, that I should make it brief and self explanatory. This I set out to do trusting myself to Allah U, the real force behind all events and to Him is our return. La haola wa la quwata illa billah. Continue reading “Bedroom Fiqh”
