Laylatul Bara’a

The Fifteenth Night of Sha’aban [Its Virtues And The Recommended Duties]

Auzubillahi min ash-Shaytani rrajim, Bismillahi ‘r-rahmani ‘r-rahim

Bara’at night is the fifteen night of the blessed month of Sha’aban. That is, it is the night between its fourteenth and fifteen days. In the eternal past, before creating anything, Allahu ta’ala predestined, decreed all things. Of these, He informs His angels about everything that will happen during one year on this night. On this night also the Holy Qur’an descended on to the Lawhil mafuz. Rasulullah ‘salallahu alaihi wa sallam’ would worship and pray very much during this night.

Of the greatest sayings of the noblest of Allah’s servants, Rasulu-karim Muhammad Mustafa {alaihi ‘s-Salam} and laylatul Bara’a the following are choosen to deepen our understanding of the reverence due to this night so that we use the night wisely in Ibadat and supplications.

    Our beloved Prophet, Sayyidna Rasulullah {sallallahu alaihi wa sallam} said;

  1. Jibrail (alaihi ‘salam) came to me and said, “Get up, perform Salat and pray! Tonight is the fifteenth night of Sha’aban.” Allahu ta’ala forgives those who respect this night. Only, He does not forgive polytheists, sorcerers, witches, misers, those who have alcoholic drinks, those who take interest and those who commit fornication.
  2. Know that Barat Night is an opportunity, a great fortune! For, it is a certain night. It is the fifteenth night of Sha’aban. Qadr night is very great, but it is not known for certain which night it is. Worship very much on this night. Or else you will repent on the Judgement Day!

The Virtues of the Sacred Month of Rajab

Bismillahi wa salatu wa salamu ‘ala Rasulillah wa ‘ala jami’il ambiyai wal-mursalin wa ‘ala ahlihi wa sahabihi ajmain, amin.

We offer our Hamd to our Karim Lord, Allahu subhanahu wa ta’ala, for the unique blessing of Iman and for all He has mercifully put in place to ensure our forgiveness and our success on the Day of Hisab. Allahu subhanahu wa ta’ala loves all possessors of Iman. With their guidance to Iman He has extended a ‘hand’ of friendship to them, and with the bond of love established, He also took it upon His majesty to fulfill all rights of friendship due. A reflection over the obligatory and nawafil ibadats as well as many little deeds that give so much rewards and exaltation would reveal how much our Lord and Creator has put in place to raise our rewards, cleanse us of sins and even turn our evils and lapses to good.

The month of Rajab is one of the sacred time selected by Allahu ta’ala to offset our deficit by granting abundance of reward. Our beloved Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa salam) and their pious  heirs and lovers (alaihimu ‘r-ridwan) would make the best of this month, exerting themselves in ibadats and good deeds. This write up is to remind Muslims of the sacredness of this noble months, of the sacred duties in it, and of the rewards attainable by those who sincerely make efforts to win Allah’s mercy in it.

The Hujjatul Islam, al-Imam Abu Hamid al-Ghazali (rahimahullah) quoted the noblest Rasulullah (alaihi ‘s-salam) as saying:

Rajab is the month of Allahu ta’ala, Sha’ban is my month, and Ramadan is the month of my Ummah. Continue reading “The Virtues of the Sacred Month of Rajab”

Beyond the Outward 1

The path of Sunnah leads to life
Without the Sunnah life is a waste
Embrace the Sunnah with all your hearts
This is the purpose and the goal

La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illa Allahu
Muhammadur Rasulullah

The last of Prophets Mustafa
Is the best example sent to man
The walking Qur’ani Habibullah
Is a model sent to all

La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illa Allahu
Muhammadur Rasulullah

The outward Sunnah should not be left
But the inward of Sunnah counts the most
The beauty of a shell counts for naught
When the nut is pure decay

La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illa Allahu
Muhammadur Rasulullah

The Pivot of Sunnah comes in three
Just like the Deen of Rasulullah
Iman, ‘Amal and Ihsan
The bases of Sunnah are just like this

La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illa Allahu
Muhammadur Rasulullah
***********************************************
Profuse Salawat for Mustafa
Is the basis of love never forget
Misers of the worlds fall behind
Any believer devoids of this

La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illa Allahu
Muhammadur Rasulullah

When a believer sends Salam
Upon the Sayyed-il Mursalin
The Angels reply with ten Salams

Ten of his sins are wiped away
And his maqam is raised in tens
You get as much as you are able to give
With Salawats light your path

La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illa Allahu
Muhammadur Rasulullah

When a believer makes Dua
Saying Salawat before he starts
And Salawat at the end
He’s sure of acceptance Masha Allah
Since Salawat is never repelled
What it covers is not repelled

La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illa Allahu
Muhammadur Rasulullah

Outward appearance of Rasulullah
Is surely an asset great indeed
What a honour without compare
Dressing and walking like Allah’s Habib
What a favour rare in life
Talking and acting like Rasulullah
If your dress is close to his
Your manners and reaction should be like his
You insult the Sunnah when you act
Against the Sunnah despite your dress
Rasulu Karim is the Prophet of mercy
O my brothers mind your beards

La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illa Allahu
Muhammadur Rasulullah

Moral purity that baffles the world
Is the true reflection of Mustafa
Total forgiveness for friends and foes
Is the true reflection of Rasulullah
Clean appearance without a stain
Is the true reflection of Habibullah
Smile endearing that softens the hearts
Is the true reflection of Mujtaba
Tears of mercy for others in pains
Is the true reflection of Nurullah
The Sunnah appearance begins the journey

To be successful act like him

La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illa Allahu
Muhammadur Rasulullah

*********************************************
The fruit of following Allah’s Habib
Is in your mercy for those he leads
The sign of success in life is this
Serving the Ummah of Rasulullah

La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illa Allahu
Muhammadur Rasulullah

Love the Muslims with all your heart
And protect their honours without a fail
Believers are blessed in Allah’s estimation
Both the sinners and the saintly pure

La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illa Allahu
Muhammadur Rasulullah

Seek the saintly and sit with them
Through their barkat get some light
Advice the sinners with endearing words
Never for once insult nor curse
He who calls a believer a kafir
Loses his Iman Subhanallah!

La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illa Allahu
Muhammadur Rasulullah

Whatever you have here on earth
Think of the Ummah of Mustafa
With your knowledge and your strength
Assist the Ummah of Rasulullah
With your progenies and your wealth
Help the Ummah of Habibullah
Whatever you spend to raise his Ummah
Is an investment you’re sure to reap

La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illallah
La ilaha illa Allahu
Muhammadur Rasulullah

As long as Allah keeps me alive
At your service Rasulullah
*****************************************
With every mote of my being
At your service Rasulullah
*****************************************
With all the blood in my veins
At your service Rasulullah
******************************************
With my progenies until the end
At your service Rasulullah
********************************************
With my knowledge and all I have
At your service Rasulullah
*******************************************
May my parents and all they have
And my children and all my beloved
Become a Labaik just for once
At your service Rasulullah

May the Angel take my soul
When my heart and body unite
At your service Rasulullah

Hamd eternally to the Lord of all
Salat and Salam on Rasulullah
On his Sahabah and all his Ahl
And our beloved Mujaddidi
Ahmad ar-Rabbani the great Sila
On all our masters pure as gem
The Saintly heirs of Rasulullah
In their love I find my joys
In love for them I want to die
With the pure I want to rise
On the Day of Hisab Ya Karim
Along with them I want to pass
Through the bridge of Sirat
In their company I want to stay
Happy eternally in Jannat Firdaus
These are my wishes Ya Allahu
Through the rank of Rasulullah

Curing the Heart

Whenever a believer feels some pains
He rushes to a doctor for quick relief
The trials of Dunya is bound to end
Even if it lasts from birth to death

La ilaha ilallah
La ilaha ilallah
La ilaha ila Allahu
Muhammadur Rasulullah

The sickness of the body is of great concern
Despite the fact that man will meet his death
And that his body will rot away
With all its ailments becoming a dream

Adab of the blessed month of Dhil-Hijja and the Eid el-Kabir at a Glance

Bismillahi wa salatu wa salamu ‘ala Rasulillah wa ‘ala jami’il ambiyai wal-mursalin wa ‘ala ahlihi wa sahabihi ajmain, amin.

As we join Muslims all over the world to welcome the noble and auspicious month of Dhul-Hijjah, it is imperative to, in a nut-shell, remind our cherished brothers and sister of the values, duties and ethics of this great month, especially the first ten days and the three days of slaughter. The sincere believer is ever restless regarding the next life and the need to accumulate good deeds before our lives here suddenly come to an end. Allahu subhanahu wa ta’ala, our Karim Lord and ever compassionate Owner slotted into some sacred days and months into our years on the earth so that we can make up for our deficits and deficiencies. Fortunate indeed are those who embrace the opportunities offered in the first ten days of the Dhul-Hijja month exerting themselves in devotions, fasting and services and who pay special attention to slaughtering on the tenth day in order to earn the eternal pleasure of Allahu subhanahu wa ta’ala.
